At regionals in 2011, some guy on my team kicked Hawthorn North's mascot person because he was bothering him. Tufted, you remember that.
I do haha. Our mascot had some great moments and some other not-so-great ones. The coolest ones were when other schools brought their mascots and they did a dance-off or something during the long wait before the awards ceremony.

Last year at state, my friend was being silly and shouting at random people around the campus that she wants to communicate with them. We got many awkward looks and this one kid exclaimed "love ya, honey!". It was weird. O.o

Last year, a couple days before nationals while I was walking around the UCF campus finding my way for my events, I couldn't help but think back to regionals only 7 weeks earlier where I nearly fell after slipping on a patch of ice while walking to one of my events.

The day before states, I was walking around the MSU campus finding where my events were being held, and was shocked when I arrived at the Meteorology room and it didn't contain any desks or tables. I guess it was a good thing when the room was changed later that night.

At Regionals and States last year, my water quality partner (one of the captains) forgot the notes. Regionals: completely forgot. States: accidentally took out bio homework.

Not too weird. But at our team's very first competition (Regionals, 2009), four moms are standing around outside a campus building and a man walks by (not associated with SO, but working on his degree that Saturday). Three of the four of us simultaneously say, "Hi, Al." Al is my neighbor, so that's why I said hi. Al is also another mom's husband's coworker, so that's how she knew him. A third mom had a child in the same community youth orchestra as Al, so that's how she knew him. The fourth mom looked around at us as if to ask, "Am I supposed to know this Al?" So, we introduced her to Al. Since then, spotting Al a week or two before competition is considered good luck. I see him walking/running around our neighborhood now and then. "Ooh, we're going to do well at State - I spotted Al walking down my street two days ago!"

I kinda misread your statement and thought you slipped on ice at UCF.

My friend and I went to the vending machine with like a 10 dollar bill and use the change return so we could get National Park quarters.
