this is a good site, right off the SO website. However, i cannot attest to the accuracy of the information, you may decide to actually do the tests on each chemical.

That's from the Benevolent Lin. On the SciO board for Chemistry. She knows what she's doing ;)

Which ones? I don't agree with some of the Benedict's reactions but that's just my preference for flow charting...

Can anyone recommend a good pH paper THAT ACTUALLY WORKS? All last year, ours never worked and it really cost us. If anyone can suggest, or post links of where to buy good pH paper, it would be much obliged!!

what my team did was use the ph paper and only applied the water to certain points. like, we used toothpicks to get the water sample and place it on the paper. that way, the chemicals didn't mix together and you save paper. :D

Essentially, that is what I use, I don't know where to get it because I got it from my coach. If your pH problems persist, work around them, as you should with all weaknesses (I try to work around flame tests whenever logically possible).

I've also had issues with pH paper doing weird stuff during competition. It seems easier to just rely on different tests with the other reagents to ID the powders. pH isn't a great indicator for most things anyways, it will only set a couple of powders apart.

My invitational was a test with all multiple choice with 3 simple math problems. Absolutely no lab stuff. Anybody else like that?
