Can't wait to see what changes they make to the rules for this season :)

I might do adjustments for next year. Is there anything I need to know about last-minute changes? I'm not very familiar with the event itself, so what kind of things would I need to know?

I am unclear about what you would like to hear about, but in order to do the event well a general undertanding of physics is good. You are in B division though so the general approach is to build a device (see image gallery for ideas) and then test it and then change things to improve on the design. Woodworking is also a useful skill since the devices are generally built mostly of wood.

Best brush up on wood-working as well as a sturdy device will probably give better and more consistent data then a shaddier built one. Trust me, my wood-working skills are horrible at best, and our device looked alot like something thrown and duck-taped together. But because me and my partner put alot of time into testing the thing, we still got 7th at state. :)

The smaller size of the device this year will make the event more difficult

We have not received our rules yet. What are the major changes? :?:

For div C. the device must fit in a 60 cm or less cube (70 for div. B). The biggest change is a bucket shot, which is basically launching into a 1 to 5 gallon bucket, that can be between 2 and 10 meters and up to 2 meters right or left of the center line. It is optional and you can only request it for your 2nd shot. And you have to hit the target on the 1st shot to qualify to request the bucket shot.
When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.

^ yeah, I don't know how I feel about the bucket shot. I don't think it will have much of an effect
