i am 6th grader and will be competeing for the first time.
and instead of using nuts and bolts for braking system, i am using a Remote controll unit.
and their is nothing on rules that says no RC unit.

do you guys think RC unit is allowed?

Remote control WILL NOT be allowed look at rule 2.d the only allowed electrical components are batteries wires motors switches resistors and mechanical relays

EDIT
also look at 2.c
only the batteries allowed in 2.b and/or non electric energy storing devices may be used to operate other functions (i.e. braking)

Yep, using a remote control is a real easy way to get Tier 2'ed.

Last year two teams tried using RC for EV in C division at my regionals. Sad, as it was clear that they weren't allowed, but some people still don't pay attention to the rules. One team figured they couldn't do it any other way, and was put in tier 2. The other team took theirs apart and wired the motors directly to the battery via a switch before impound. There was no way to stop the vehicle, but it still finished at the bottom of tier 1 - better than the vehicle operated by remote control.

Please read the wiki like robotman said, but also understand that no one on scioly can give an idea on your buggy. We can assist you in any problems or questions you may have but don't expect us to come right out and tell you what to do. Unless you have read the wiki, then.....

This doesn't apply just to computergeek but anyone who has every asked such a question.

Sorry if that was harsh.
Also sorry for wasting the time of those who do not fall under the above category.
