The Best of 2009

Postby Dark Sabre » June 22nd, 2009, 2:05 pm

We combed through the pictures that people uploaded from Nationals and tried to pick out all of the top 10 placing devices. Eyeball and starpug helped identify some of the ones on the image gallery too, if you check out some of the image comments over there.

The result is this wiki page: The Best of 2009 Wiki

We obviously don't have pictures of every top ten device, but we have at least one of the top 10 for every event except Elevated Bridge C. Most of the events have two or three entries right now.

Check out the pictures and add comments or questions about the designs!

If you have more pictures of one of the devices or pictures of other nationals top 10 devices, you can upload them yourself on the wiki, the image gallery, or shoot me a PM.

Should we try to do this next year?

It seems like a great idea. :P

Well, it is only applicable to the Building Events, so I stuck it here :?

I believe this is an excellent idea. However, I wouldn't be too surprised if we don't see any entries for Elevated Bridge until after next year. Especially with the balsa events, one photo can give away a fair amount of information... I do hope we see a few though. : )

This is really neat! It's a very cool aggregation of all of these awesome designs.

I do doubt that we'll see too many bridge ones get posted. While I'm curious to see some of the other bridges (I got to see 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 for C division while there), a picture is so revealing for that event that I have a feeling people won't want them shown. The closest we'll probably see is the picture I posted of the 4th place bridge before it was put together. =).

Definitely a good idea for next year though. Thanks for putting this together!

Though it doesn't fall into the 2009 category, figured I'd mention it here since it placed well...

Aia was kind enough to upload her Wheeled Vehicle from 2007, which placed 7th: [gallery]2007 - Aia[/gallery]
Most of the images also have descriptions and other info, so check those out too.

Doesn't really seem important...more about the designs than recognition

The designs are constantly improving, though, anyway, so I don't think it'll matter that much.
