Dynamic Planet B/C

Postby Jim_R » June 11th, 2009, 7:17 pm

Discussion for Dynamic Planet B/C.
-The path of the Administrator is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

-Nothing\'s gonna get deleted. We\'re gonna be like three little Fonzies here. And what\'s Fonzie like? Come on, what\'s Fonzie like?
-Cool?
-Correctamundo. And that\'s what we\'re gonna be. We\'re gonna be cool. Now, I\'m gonna count to three, and when I count three, you let go of your mouse, and back away from the keyboard. But when you do it, you do it cool. Ready? One... two... three.

I think this might be one of the few events in which the rules do not change at all from last year.

i wouldn't count on it all staying the same yea the what you need to know will stay the same but i think that they will add more stuff to know and may take away the use of resources

I really hope they do take away the note sheet. There aren't too many facts to memorize about this event to begin with...

I wouldn't persay get rid of the note sheet but I would limit it to one side of a piece of paper.

For C, I agree that there should be no note sheet, we didn't use it at all at regionals last year (didn't go to states or nats). However, for B, they should at least let them have something, it is supposed to be easier.

the only reason ours took up both sides was the fact that it was typed an we put multiple diagrams and pictures on it.

i think that if they get rid of the note sheet for one division they should do the same in the other division

my partner and i didn't use our note sheet at all so it isn't that hard to memorize what you need to do

Well, I guess they can do that if they make C significantly harder than B. Then, with the difference they could keep the "no resources allowed" a constant. Plus, I guess all teams have to deal with the same rules.

its easy to make C harder just by making the test more in depth

for note sheets i think one is necessary so you have P/S wave travel times, which would be a pain to memorize, and so you can have the scales in front of you, other than that they are pretty useless

I think that it should be made a rule to provide the S/P wave travel time at every competition and allow teams to bring in their own compass to the competition, so the team that is providing the compasses doesn't have an unfair advantage.

They don't allow teams to bring compasses? I took one to competitions and nobody said anything to me.

They usually provide the compasses, and they should be the same for all teams. Although personally, I dislike doing actual trangulation...
