Whoa... nice avatar there, Celeste.

Yes, one eruption caused the problem. There are Northwest winds this time of year so the ash is blowing straight over Britain and Europe. Apparently there's another volcano on the other end of the island and these two together historically erupt very close together... makes news grim for Europe.

Thanks :D

I've also read that along with the eruptions, the volcano is also causing a series of seismic tremors that are causing a bunch of problems in Iceland.

Hey I'm going to be doing Dynamic Planet at Nationals but this is my first time going so I was wondering if any of you guys who have already gone could tell me about the difficulty of the test at the national level.

well, i havent gone to nationals before but I can tell you that it is ten times more difficult than state. The nationals test will focus more on sea-floospreading and volcanology (as far as I know) but check the http://soinc.org/dynamic_planet_b site.

Yes, the test packets from previous nationals are sold though the soinc.org store. http://store.soinc.org/c-7-test-packets.aspx

As far as the difficulty of the tests at Nationals - it depends on who is writing the test and who wrote the previous tests that you've taken. Nationals tests aren't always necessarily "harder". Last year the Fossils B test and the Reach for the Stars tests were incredibly easy, but the Fossils C test was very difficult and very long.

The rules say we can have one double sided page of notes. Is it ok to have two single sided sheets back-to-back inside a plastic sheet protector?

is it legal according to the rules..no
are they gonna notice... probably not.

it's easy thought to just photocopy one side with info onto a blank side, so i would do that.

Yeah, just photocopy it or get someone to. If not, I don't really think it will be that big of a deal. It's basically the same thing anyway.
