I don't think Minnewaska shut down. It was on the list of state parks that could be closed, but I think it was relatively far down that list. In any case, a quick Google search didn't immediately turn up anything about it closing.Well, it should be okay. I liked New Paltz.... but now that (I think) Minnewaska shut down, my favorite part is gone....
Geometrically, perhaps, but not demographically. New Paltz and Ulster are closer for NYC, Nassau, Suffolk, Lower Hudson, MidHudson, Capital, and Southern Tier, and about the same for Adirondack. That's the bulk of the state teams.Rochester would be more centralized than New Paltz...further from New York City, but anything downstate would be very inconvenient for the rest of the state.
I wouldn't exactly call Ulster the Albany area. It's about a 75 minute drive from Albany (while only about a 30 minute drive from New Paltz).Road trips are nice, and I like the Albany area, so that would make me happy, but I loved New Paltz, and I'm sad that it's gone.
