A sling WILL get you more distance, if you can get it to release right.Tramsarran wrote:I would use a cup because I have had bad experiences with the projectile getting caught in the sling and being released too late. My partner and I switched to a cup for States after shooting the projectile with a sling and getting around 3 meters.

Re: Storm the Castle B
I know the sling will get the projectile further but my team and I used a cheap fabric sling. I really have a hard time getting it to release right thus I didn't want to take the risk. Making a mistake with positioning the sling was possible

Try using a leather sling, it grasps the projectile a lot better.
Btw, what team are you from?

Pasteur, from NYC. My teammate who basically did all the building of it thought of using leather and asked me for some but we didn't find any that we could have used.

oh hai, I think I saw some of your teammates during the competition.
yeah, leather is ideal. But if you can, go with a thin leather, not thick.

We were one of the teams that didn't have team T-shirts there too. What event did you like watching better? Bottle Rocket or Storn The Castle?

It's also nice to know that the crowd sitting on the bleachers left when my partner and I were setting up our trebuchet. Didn't get embarrased too much. I'm using my EDGE cell phone to make these posts.

Bahahahaha xD, the proctor was hilarious, it made my day. And (unfortunately) we had a large crowd... and also more than half of my team was there... it was quite embarrassing.
