Our spring was also getting chewed up, but we replaced it with a stronger one. You might think a spring would be less accurate, but it actually works quite well. It's an option, but there might be ones that are preferable. The only problem is that it slows down a lot, which gives us a worse score.

Edit: never mind, the spring does kind of mess things up. Hopefully not too badly.

How do you set up braking on a 3 wheeled car? It confuses me...

You have two wheels in front and one in back. Then you have the basic wing nut system in front. I think you were thinking of two wheels in back and one in front. The back axle can then be angled.

Yeah, it's kind of counter-intuitive, at first everybody else thought that the back was the front. It works quite well though.

Is there a way to make a four wheel buggy turn other than different wheel sizes and screw at the front? or a way to make it go straight, and then turn (around the bucket) and the go straight again?

There are many ideas and discussions near the beginning of this thread. However, I think that only turning around the bucket would be more efficient but extremely difficult. It would be much better to go with turning the whole way.

Well, couldn't it be done with like, 4 micro switches? (after certain distance, micro switch activates, car turns, another activates, car turns again [so it faces straight] then goes straight)

I guess. I hadn't really considered that, but if you can figure it out, go ahead. Just be careful with time, I don't know how long you have until your next competition, but make sure that you have enough time to do it and test before you start.
