Have you ever seen history of musicians? We've been asked about Mozart's past and what inspired Beethoven... it was an invitational but am I correct in assuming we won't need to know that?

i would maybe send for a rules clarification on that one

lol our regionals asked us about Mozart's favorite chord and I just looked at my partner and had no idea what to say... lol luckily states was run much much better in that particular event

I've heard that SE PA had music theory on their exam (matching composers to compositions, I think?), but the test at my regionals was physics only.

I didn't see anything in the rules on that... lol am I missing something?? Like if there is a list somewhere on composers we should know that would be nice... lol

No theres not, because its not directly related to the event, they're only supposed to test you on the physics of music. But then again you can never control what the event supervisor will put, but since you were un-prepared for it, so was everyone else.

True, and it all just depends, at an invite we got some music theory and I happened to know it which helped. I guess I just have to hope for a good oral exam/test for nats!

yep that's what i had to do but it was only for the tiebreaker so i dont think it counted that much
surprisingly it was pretty well run...except i forgot my portable stand at the gym thinking i wouldn't need it
anyways they had names of compositions and you had to write the composer
i remember one of the compositions was 'imperial march' and i was like....star wars... who was the composer?
besides that there were physics questions, determine frequency, wavelength, draw a wave showing harmonics etc.
