Yah I sure hope that the event sups would follow the rules as they're written in the manuals. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair.
I do too, but then again, I heard a couple really big noobs are running MV this year at Nats, so I mean...

I hope that is a poor attempt at a joke. The national supervisors for MV this year are VERY experienced and diligent and have a long history of involvement with SO.

Oops, I had no idea who that actually was until he just emailed me offline. Thus illustrates the fundamental problem with silly usernames like bearasauras and winneratlife;)

Mousetrap vehicle without the mousetrap. Another power source will be required. We haven't finalized it yet.

I'm pretty certain I already know the answer to this, but I just want to make absolutely sure. In the rules, when it says the vehicle must fit in a 1m x 1m square at ready to start mode, this means right before you trigger the mousetrap(s) and get the car moving, correct? So the length of the lever arm and chassis combined can be over 1 meter when fully extended as long as it is 1m after you pull the arm back, correct?

correct!

So I know in past years its been a battery or something, so do you imagine the new power source being electronically based or machanically based like the mousetrap?

When I did wheeled vehicle 4 or 5 years ago, it had to be powered by some elastic device. I'm not sure how similar the new rules will be, but that's my guess.
