Note that the Station 4 page is titled SAMPLE concepts... This is not an all inclusive list, and the E/C is not only able to throw in a couple not on the list, I'd be disappointed if they didn't at Nationals!havenguy wrote:Yes, the event supervisor said it was made so you couldn't finish. I actually think there were a few (4 or 5) that were on the nats list, and this was a state competition!I think we got all of them but 8.FueL wrote:
You had to present ALL of them? o_o
There is a master list for concepts at : http://www.groundwater.org/pe/docs_so/AABstudyguide.pdf.
Edit: Like I posted earlier, FueL, the question was something like "In which state are all aquifers polluted?" It did not mention if how many aquifers there were.

I agree. If a team knows all the concepts perfectly, it would be nice to have some that they didn't know, to throw them off.

Re: Awesome Aquifers B
I personally found the kit extremely helpful. If you know someone who works with aquifers and who will teach you about them, that is also a major learning experience.
2011: I am a participant at nationals in Experimental Design (first at state), Awesome Aquifers (First at state), Ecology (Second last year at state), and Cant Judge a Powder (not a participant at state). Our school won state this year for Wyoming.

Re: Awesome Aquifers B
The kit was very useful. The only time my partner and I built an aquifer before States was by following the directions in the guide we had from the Groundwater Foundation thing. We still managed to get 4th at NY States.
Goodbye Science Olympiad, until next year.

Re: Awesome Aquifers B
I didn't really think the kit was that helpful. It taught basic concepts, but did not help when you got to state and national concepts.

can somebody list the master concepts from http://www.groundwater.org/pe/docs_so/AABstudyguide.pdf ? I can't view the page for some reason from my computer.

Re: Awesome Aquifers B
Well, I figured out how to divide my aquifer container ^_^ you have to use plastic cut outs and lots and lots of book tape. It took me about an hour.
Question: do section dividers count as part of your container (allowed), or are you not allowed to put them in beforehand? I reread the rules, but it still doesn't seem clear. In other words, are you allowed to use a modified store-bought container?
