Materials Science C [Trial]

Post by Jim_R »

Discussion for Materials Science Trial Event.

Known to be used in Delaware.

Link to Delaware rules.
-The path of the Administrator is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

-Nothing\'s gonna get deleted. We\'re gonna be like three little Fonzies here. And what\'s Fonzie like? Come on, what\'s Fonzie like?
-Cool?
-Correctamundo. And that\'s what we\'re gonna be. We\'re gonna be cool. Now, I\'m gonna count to three, and when I count three, you let go of your mouse, and back away from the keyboard. But when you do it, you do it cool. Ready? One... two... three.

Also being used in Washington.
I'm not sure how to prepare for this. I did take a Materials Camp at UW over the summer (completely unrelated), but I have no idea what will show up.

This seems like exactly what I'm learning in my chemistry class right now: stoichiometry and bonding.

I checked the wiki and there's nothing on this.... where are you guys getting the info? Just curious, this isn't a trial in Indiana so we don't have any idea what to expect... lol

Read the rules (linked to in the first post on this thread). There is also some info about this event on the 2011 national tournament page, I think.

This may seem redundant, but how are you all practicing for this event? I know it's a trial and all that, but it's always good to know how to study for an unfamiliar event.

I couldn't find any tests, besides a hard copy of an old one from Wisconsin that's already been filled out. Besides the rules, are there any other resources you guys have been using?

I recommend getting a chemistry textbook and reading the relevant chapters (stoichiometry, VSEPR, etc.)
I'm not doing this event though; I think we're giving it to the alternates to do.
