How is fossils generally run at nationals? This is my first year going, and I have no idea what to expect.
Planned 2012 events: forestry, rocks & minerals, water quality, dynamic planet, anatomy & physiology, thermodynamics, gravity vehicle.

I think it's like regs/states, but with less time per station. But you can't really trust me; I've never been to Nats.

For C, I think it is stations. This is my first year doing it at the C level, though.

I'd also check the Wiki. Yeah... I'm lazy.

I've never seen a Fossils test that wasn't stations. Ever.

The event I did a few years ago at Nats was tough, only because of time. We had 10 stations at 6 minutes each (I think), with a LOT of samples. One of the stations was literally "Identify fossils A through R and match them to their environments of formation", and a lot of multiple choice followed. The questions weren't very hard, you just had to work FAST to get them all done.

The first two stations caught me off guard with the time; we received no time warnings (like "30 seconds left"), so I only finished half of them, but I managed to just complete the rest, though a few were rushed. I placed 5th (I also did it by myself basically, cause I told my partner not to bother studying >.>)

That was two years ago, I don't know if last year's event was similar (I heard it was easier, but it focused on plants for some reason).
2009 events:
Fossils: 1st @ reg. 3rd @ states (stupid dinosaurs...) 5th @ nats.
Dynamic: 1st @ reg. 19thish @ states, 18th @ nats
Herpetology (NOT the study of herpes): NA
Enviro Chem: 39th @ states =(
Cell Bio: 9th @ reg. 18th @ nats
Remote: 6th @ states 3rd @ Nats
Ecology: 5th @ Nats
