And why did the different suture patterns emerge?!?!

One explanation for this increasing extravagancy in suture pattern is that it leads to a higher strength of the shell, but also just competition over time led to one surviving over the other, and those with similar patterns survived (gogo ecology).

I'm referring to the Ammonites. Cypraea do not have disginguishable suture lines.

What did everyone think of the nationals test? I thought the samples were pretty fantastic, but what was that massive bone? We guessed that it was a tibia... we didn't really know.
