Anybody think the rules will change much for this year?

I doubt it. If anything the list may change slightly, but I don't think they would change the event very much. I hope they add binders, but it's very unlikely.

Binders would be very nice.

A good way to study for ornithology is to read the wikipedia article on each bird. A better way to study is to write the wikipedia article on each bird.

I think a Scioly Wiki article would be better. ;)

I don't know, some Wikipedia pages are very good. Then again...

Some of the Wikipedia articles on lesser known birds are... lacking. :P I like the "exposure" way of studying, though, just trying to amass as much information as possible and reading about birds wherever you can find them. Some of the facts have got to stick, though my partner is much better at this than I am.

Binders would be heavenly, and I'd like to see more of an emphasis on calls next year.

I'm hoping to see less emphasis on calls. At the very least, they should be more specific in what they want. For instance, should we know the call only, or the song only, or all of them.... that needs to be fixed.

If my memory's right, at states there were 20-something stations, and 3 of them were bird calls. :( (not to mention the lolbluebird mistake)

Yeah, the manual should have been more specific, though it seems like they were focusing more or less on songs.
