Have you seen those brownish sort of grocery bags that are really thin? I think they use them at Dominick's sometimes. I don't know if that's what illusionist means, though.

Try the bags from the produce section. They are much thinner than regular bags at the checkout.

Yeah, I get the produce bags from either Walmart or our local grocery store. The thin, transparent stuff.

You have to look around when scrounging bags for covering. Since it isn't sold by weight, the thickness varies by region, store and even in a store from time to time. Best to collect a bunch from your area and weigh consistent patches (say 10 by 10). Make sure its less than tissue then pick the lightest.
At one time in my area PetSmart and Home Depot shopping bags were very light, but they've gained weight recently.

Ask the shopper in your house, whose bags to they hate!!

This is not the place for official clarifications, I doubt any tournament will honor postings here if used for arbitration. For an official ruling submit a clarification at soinc.org. That being said, rule 2.b. states "The helicopter may be braced with string of any base material." So, in my opinion, the answer would be maybe. It likely depends on wether the carbon fiber is in string-form or laminate form. If I were you, I'd submit an official clarification with more details on your proposed construction.

Random tip: NEVER USE KITE PAPER FOR YOUR WINGS, EVEN IF IT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA. Too heavy! I learned this midway through my helicopter experience. In time--thank God--for regionals.
Just wanted to make sure no one else made the same mistake.
