Re: Duration
illusionist: sorry that it do so hot, theres always next year! my hope is to get first in IL next year
The top IL time was 2:12 although i think both the 1st place winner and myself could of done alot better if we hadn't broken or damaged the good ones prior to competition. (i heard new trier lost their best upper rotor in free flight)

Re: Duration
Thanks steven.
The ceiling at Michigan was 21 feet tall, and totally flat. It was ideal for copters with a point on top, and many of them just spun in place as if they were glued to the ceiling.

Re: Duration
nice! IL was in the armory and a good spot because it was 90 feet tall but gerders everywhere. and since the ceiling was domed if you didnt fly in the center, the gerders were tilted so that getting your helicopter caught was only a matter of time. Im glad mine was balanced so it went more or less straight up so it didnt get caught but i saw a few that unfortunately did. But at 90 feet, a good amount of helicopters didnt hit the roof so thats also a + for not getting stuckillusionist wrote:Thanks steven.

Re: Duration
ohio state had a probably 100-120 foot ceiling but its sloped with all kinds of obstructions. lots of teams heli's got stuck and it probably affected the results.
division C top score was 2:50ish i didn't see the flight and dont know which team it was
division B (trial) 2:55ish and once again didn't see the flight
the event supervisor ruled that if a helicopter's top prop got stuck and stopped turning that it was stuck and the flight was void/not counted in the score EVEN IF it came down like the FAQ states so the scores were a lot lower than what i would have expected

The French field house (where helicopters and other flight events have been held for years at OSU is ~47 feet tall at the peak, definitely not 100.
