Usually it's at West Point; it's been there for a while. According to people in this thread, though, some of the main buildings are getting renovated and so it'll have to be somewhere else, but we don't know where yet.

It would be cool to have states in nyc...Ive always wanted to go there with friends, not family, if you know what I mean.

It really wouldn't be cool. Don't get me wrong, I love NYC and I often get a bunch of friends, hop on the train, and go there to hang out for a day. But having 50+ teams of nerds there for science olympiad will be chaos.

It would be okay at Columbia, I think, but not at NYU.

What if it was on the Island? I bet some schools (perhaps Hofstra, Stony Brook, C.W. Post even) would love to host it. Yes, it might be a long drive, but isn't the ride the best part, in some aspects?

No, it isn't. Did you ever do B States in Rochester? A couple of hours on the bus might be fun, but it gets pretty old six or eight hours in. Still, it would be way better than Rochester or Buffalo.

You know, I actually didn't mind the seven-ish hour drive to Rochester that much. Half of us brought our DSes so we had an epic Mario Kart tournament on the bus ride that lasted a while, and played other stuff like cards or word games. Or we slept. It was definitely a bit long, but I didn't think it was awful.

I wouldn't say that the ride is the best part though, that goes to the tournament itself =)
