My school district has a bunch of elementary schools feeding into two middle schools and one large high school. We don't get a choice of anything, it's all about where you live.
Not competing in the 2011-12 season.

One thing to note though is that a lot of people start doing Harriton Olympiad once they get to Harriton school (I can name a few from my class) and others come to Harriton for other reasons entirely (I'm an example of one person that went to BC and Harriton, with no intention of doing science olympiad).

With the new schools less people are getting a choice of where to go, but back when I was a freshman a lot of people from WV did not have a choice and had to go to Harriton, whereas everyone from BC had a choice. In this case when only 4-8 people a year go from BC to Harriton, it can be hard to leave behind all of your friends for only science olympiad.

Just saying that in my experience the feeding doesn't make as much of a difference as the existing program at the school and the appeal that it has to students

Actually, to most of us, going to Harriton just for Science Olympiad is a bad choice. For example, the main reason I'm going is for IB, with Sci.Oly. as a minor reason.

I would also like to mention that until recently, a lot of welsh valley also has the choice to go to Lower Merion. For example if you live across the street from Lower Merion you are actually zoned to go to welsh valley then choose your high school (still the current system I believe). In my class for example, a good amount of Lower Merion's seniors went to Welsh Valley and a good amount of Harriton seniors went to Bala Cynwyd.

Okay, I think I get the whole high school choosing thing now.

Harriton medaled in all but 2 events... I'm kind of scared now.

So based on the changes, does that mean Springton Lake is not going to states, or are they just going to send 10 again?

On unrelated note, does anyone know why this year's states shirt (http://projects.juniata.edu/scioly/pacomp/tshirt.pdf) says 20th anniversary? I have the 2009 shirt that has a big "25th anniversary" on it, so I'm not really sure what's going on..

Well 2009 was the 25th anniversary of science olympiad as a whole - it might just be the State Tournament happening at Juniata for the 20th year
