but we need an adult just to pretend to be the coach, so that we can get the forms filled out, have that adult sign us up, (as students are not allowed to do that, only "coaches") and just get all the info for us >.< THATS all..but no teacher or parent wants to do that

At my regional, my team's (B team) score did not affect the A team's chance of going to states. If the A team got 25th place, and the B team for 1st place, then Scarsdale would still go to states. But only one team can go to states - this year both the A and B team qualified (2nd and 4th places) for the state level. So the B team got bumped down and Bronxville, the 5th place team, went to states.

One team per school at states, those are the rules. My A team qualified for states, but we rearranged the state team before the competition so it was not the same as the A team.
