Wow, that's a pretty unnerving level of recollection on your part. I certainly was never active enough to have established myself in the memory of the scioly.org community - or at least, I didn't think so. In spite of that, I have to say that it does bring back memories to be back here.quizbowl wrote:AustinRHL used to compete (he medaled at nats last year, i believe from Albuquerque Academy) but now that he graduated he hasnt been on much.zoej wrote:Discussion area for New Mexico 2011 Science Olympiad.

Anyway, I'll just pop in here to say that my school's team, which is indeed Albuquerque Academy, won State today over the Albuquerque Area Homeschoolers. It was a narrower margin (seven points on a scale of something like 20 or 25 for the victors, depending on the number of teams that competed this year, down to one for last place finishers) than it has been in the past, but I'm not in any position to attribute that to an improvement on the part of the homeschoolers or a stagnation/regression from our (fairly young) team.
Also, for the record, OlympiadLover is another New Mexico member (on the Albuqerque Academy team). Otherwise, yeah, there really isn't enough of an intense "Science Olympiad culture" in the state for there to be many members from it.
Albuquerque Academy '10, University of Chicago '14
State: Chemistry Lab 1st, Cell Biology 1st, Ecology 1st, Environmental Chemistry 2nd
Nationals: Chemistry Lab 32nd, Cell Biology 4th, Environmental Chemistry 5th, Forensics 37th
It's hard to accept that for me, there isn't a next year.

Re: New Mexico 2011
Naroinar and I are also from NM. It's pretty rare to find New Mexicans on here.
Academy div C SO. 23 wins, 2 losses all time at State. Best record in the nation.
