New Mexico/Four Corners Invitational

Post by emperos »

Because New Mexico and surrounding areas currently have no invitationals, the Albuquerque Academy team is looking to establish one or more during the course of the coming year.

We believe that the key to improving Science Olympiad in New Mexico and in the four corners area is to get students and coaches exposed to as many competitions as possible so that all of the teams can get an idea of what the competition will be like at regional and state tournaments and so that students know their weak areas. Such friendly competition will benefit every participant and we hope that over the years, as such competitions become annual events, that New Mexico Science Olympiad will be up to par with the historically powerful states such as Ohio and California.

Thus, as we get into the summer, our Science Olympiad team is hoping to begin to put into motion the first gears of what will hopefully be an invitational this coming winter. In the current stage of this, we are trying to feel out how NM and surrounding states' teams feel about participating in such an invitational this upcoming season. Who's interested?

To continue, what we are trying to do is not only get the Four Corner Invitational but also many little ones throughout New Mexico, so the teams in New Mexico can have a chance for greater number of competitions, thus increasing the preparedness of every team in the Southwest region

We only represent the C division, and we haven't asked the B team (who is by and large much less dedicated) if they're ready for something like this as well. email us at [email protected] with school name, etc. if you're interested, though. We'll try to sort this out.

from what I heard the mid-school team is pretty disorganized right now coming off of their loss at state but it still might be possible to organize a B division invitational if there is enough interest from other schools
Albuquerque Academy...long may she reign.
