back wheel powered and all wheel braking works best.

may I ask how you allwheel break?
Is that even possible with a threaded rod/wingnut?

No, actually. That burns out the motor. You need a good kill-switch and someone who doesn't destroy things by touch, like Josh Curtis or Jack Fishman. lol
States is gonna suck... :(

Yes, it is. You just have two wingnuts, and one kill-switch. But I wouldn't recommend it because Jocool DESTROYED his buggy. He's using mine, and he DESTROYED that one, too. (By trying to max out the speed by changing the gear ratio.)

i don't think you can destroy it, just get a new motor.

Well, he messed up his buggy by melting the motor. It just died. So he's using mine, because I'm not in the event anymore, and the gears don't even work.

i'm sorry, I wasn't competing at states either although I built most of the buggy and they got first. haha. oh well i guess.

and yeah, most probably you could keep bringing in new motors and fix the problem. it burns right? you need more torque, so geardown your ratio.

i did more on it than you. by the way who got third? whos an alternate? who got mr. grande angry by loosing his notes. i wouldn't talk. and i didn't destroy it at all. paul said that YOU made the gears wrong. it needed its own axle. and, 2 brakes work fine. we used it on ours. it never broke cus of all weel brakes. it was just too inconsistent. so seriously, stifle yourself kahaf. :x

lawl we're going to start gearing gear ratios soon. how do you tell if you made it too high again?

btw jocool that's a really cool design. we're using a cruddy 1 threaded rod/wingnut and only front wheel breaking. i totally want to change it (even maybe get a balsa wood chassis) but a person who's helping us says it's not worth the risk. I guess I have to agree, maybe next year haha. But i can say the skid would be better with rear wheel breaking.

i've heard lots about the vex/erector sets. I think we're just going to stick with wood though. the person who is helping us told us to try to lose some mass by drilling lots of holes to reduce mass.

Yeah, I think a balsa wood chassis would be a good idea but a little risky, balsa wood is very soft and probably not the best sturdy chassis material, although is is extremely light weight.

sucks i'm going to be in div. C next year there's no battery buggy there =( haha who cares egg o naut sounds fun =)

erector is better tho it is strong, relatively light, and good for everything. but if ur using wood, use bass. its stronger.

I have been using a balsa wood body, and i haven't encountered any problems with it. It actually makes building easier, while maintaining low weight.
