event A and event B are at same timecypressfalls Robert wrote:why would this matter really?
Bob is top person in both
obviously he cant do both and now you are screwed in one event
one bad place doubles your score making your overall rank dropped 20 places
and if you r a top team, say good bye to your top ten ranking and probably a trophy

Problem is you have a decent amount of time to study for events between now and nationals. Also their are 23 events to nullify that one bad place.sciencegeek100 wrote:event A and event B are at same timecypressfalls Robert wrote:why would this matter really?

Re: do u like your team #s for Nationals
The national schedule isn't divided into even and odd. It is grouped by team number with most events grouped 1-20, 21-40, and 41-60. Occasionally events are divided up into 1-10, 11-20, etc. Additionally, it is very easy to predict your team number from the beginning of the year. Team numbers are assigned according to the number of teams that compete in your state, and these relative positions do not change much. So, really you have no reason to complain because if you are a team that consistently qualifies for nationals (Troy), you have the entire year to train up someone else.
When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.

I really don't see what is so important about your team numbers. I wish I had been able to get one , but alas I didn't make it to nationals

Re: do u like your team #s for Nationals
We always had our team numbers in the 40's-50's. It didn't really faze any of us veteran competitors, but one of the freshman asked me a couple years ago if they purposely put the not so good states farther down the list to prevent them from doing well.
But my opinion, is that team numbers never played a big factor in our competitions

I've never been to nationals, and despite the fact that I am fairly superstitious, why in the world would team numbers affect your performance?

Thats the thing, i don't think they do. Sure, I think there might be problems if you prepare for an event at nats from day one and find out there is a conflict, but IMHO, i don't think thats a very wise strategy. If anything, you need to focus on the invitational/regional/state competition coming up first, then take that knowledge and build on it for nationals. That way if you find out about a conflict, i think it would be a lot less stressful.
