Our school just has it. We win, that's all. Small, poor, but we have it. Which is why we dominate test scores, athletics and Scio :D :D :D :D

I have no respect for any member of your team except Starpug. The only reason that you guys even make it to nats every year is because you seem to be a a well off school in a small state. Don't be so arrogant, and don't tell me to chill after you read this. I was chilling during the Ultimate Frisbee thread fiasco.
Actually our school is smaller and poorer than a lot of the schools we beat every year. We compete against schools with twice the attendance and money that we have and have beat them for 15 years.
Theres not a chance that your schooler is poorer than mine, and that's not really the point - there are numerous rich private schools at state but we beat most of them too.

There is literally nothing here in Waterville anymore. Waterville USED to be a bustling mill city and comparable to a Bangor and actually sort of important... Now Waterville has nothing, the population has drastically fallen and there is NO business here. NOTHING. It's a dying city, it literally will die in a few decades...

What's so important about Waterville, Maine? We live in one of the richest counties in the U.S. and our Science Olympiad team hasn't got a penny.

What's so important about Waterville Maine is that it is the poorest city in the US that's all.

Like I said, Waterville used to be an important city in Maine, but it is slowly dying as all of the mills have left for Mexico and now there is no business, at all. No business = no money. No money = poor community. poor community = no money for school. no money for school = no money for Scio.

and ben, hahah there's still Winslow :D [our rival]

Ya bud, i've actually been there and i know its a very small town...

But even though my school has a student population of 1400, only 15 showed sincere interest in sci oly (30 total kids, but the JV squad was a complete mess). And of those 15, there are like 3 kids who could possibly be competitive at state. It's not that the kids are stupid, they just don't care that much about Sci Oly.

Another thing, our school gets not money for any academic clubs, and we aren't even allowed to fundraise as often as we used to.

As small as your town is, im sure your Sci Oly team gets some recognition from its school. Our team gets squat. Im not complaining, i don't care what they think, but i just wish sometimes that they'd do something for us so we could do even better as a team...

I understand how the economy is in small towns these days, but if we can't get financial support, itd be nice if the daily announcer could even consider us important enough to say over the intercome "This weekend, the science olympiad team won their division at the state tournament".
