How'd you make the bridge and the curved sides? I'd imagine that those would be the hardest part of the instrument to make without breaking.

The bridge I thinned a piece of Maple* and just used a band-saw and than a jig-saw to shape it correctly.

For the sides I made a thin frame with the shape of a violin and than took very very thin pieces of Maple* and soaked it in water for a day or so and than wrapped it around the frame with glue while continuing to spray it with water and let it set.

I used all Hardwoods like I think it was all Maple* or Cedar*
I have a feeling the Drafts will be close to the final rules

*Disclaimer:All wood was hardwood not positive if it was maple but that is what I think it was

Not really... I saw a flute my team made a few years ago and it was just a PVC pipe with a few holes drilled in it. We actually did pretty good that year, or so I hear.

Yeah, it's probably (can't speak from experience) easier to make a wind instrument than a string one, and percussion should be easy. All you need is a tanned deer skin. Better grab my rifle.
Actually, they're probably not a good idea. According to the Sounds of Music Wiki they are hard to make and not advised.

I would not recommend making a drum. You have to be able to change pitch (steel drum could work) so think along the lines of a xylophone.
When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.

Yeah, I edited my post. A xylophone has changeable pitch.. yeah, I'll probably make that.
If the rules are similar to the trial ones, then what melody do you guys want to do?

The last time this event was on, we made our own bow with horsehair and we made our own rosin as well.
