Yes, it seems to be the entire protein. The build onsite will be a section of Oct4 for regionals, NANOG for states.

ETA Yes, I have the rulebook.

So there is three parts?
You build a model to bring to the competition, construct a model on site, and a take a test?

Yes. You are also allowed 5 (double-sided) pages of notes.

How do you figure out which amino acids are used and in what sequence?

Good question. MSOE says 85 residues, but it doesn't say which: http://cbm.msoe.edu/includes/jmol/SOJmo ... Build.html
Looking at the sequence on RCSB, I would guess it's 399-483: http://www.rcsb.org/pdb/explore/remedia ... ureId=2WBU

how did you get there because my computer only takes me to last year's cbm website which doesn't show any of this 2011 stuff?

I'm just curious, but have you guys started your pre-build yet?

My team is (kinda) off to a slow start this year and I was curious what sets you guys are building with.

I am currently looking at the Amino Acid Starter Kit (My god it's expensive and shipping is pricey...) is this the set I should get to begin with? I don't want to mispurchase something like this.

Thank you for reading and helping~!
