Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
I agree with the general consensus here that 4 note pages is definately too much, but I also think quizbowl has a good point. Although the realm of fresh water is immense, the tests will be pretty straight forward. Having more notes could make the test harder on the teams, especially those that bring more than, say 2.
As for the answer to the question, it was a stair-step canyon. i wasn't sure if i could accept plateau canyon, and to be fair I dont think I will.
Next question:
Explain to me the different types of load a river can carry.
An explanation on the canyon will be coming soon

Dissolved load and suspended load.IdahoSciGuy wrote:Explain to me the different types of load a river can carry.
Dissolved- load is made of soluble materials that are homogeneously mixed into the water.
Suspended- load is made of solid grains that do not dissolve into the water.

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
Don't forget bed load. Also, suspended may be subdivided into suspended proper and wash load.

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
Wash load rarely if ever hits bottom, when suspended load does so more or less regularly. As a result, wash load doesn't get deposited.

Can anyone find ANYTHING on lake inflow and outflow? I have checked our school's online encyclopedias and I have nothing.

Use google, and I would also suggest looking through a geology or other Earth Science textbook rather than encyclopedias.prplman wrote:Can anyone find ANYTHING on lake inflow and outflow? I have checked our school's online encyclopedias and I have nothing.

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
I am Prplman's partner in this event. It is an encyclopedia specific to Earth Science and Geology, and we have already found a ton of good information for this event, especially lake types and formations. We have tried Google, but most of the sites are not what we are looking for and/or have irrelevant information.rocketman1555 wrote:Use google, and I would also suggest looking through a geology or other Earth Science textbook rather than encyclopedias.prplman wrote:Can anyone find ANYTHING on lake inflow and outflow? Does anyone have any good websites or books on this? It would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
Yeah. It was the MacMillan Encyclopedia of Earth Science. It comes in two volumes. It is pretty general, but has some very good information on fresh water, rivers, lakes, et cetera.quizbowl13 wrote: might i mind asking which encyclopedia you are using?
It is also written in a very comprehensible way.
