I know it was our concern in the first place, but I will attempt to help with the Inflow/Outflow topic.

A PDF linked on the Science Olympiad page for Dynamic Planet, inflow is simply stated as water flowing into a lake, and outflow is water flowing out of a lake.

That just seems too basic for them to ask us a question on. I am still looking for more resources that go more in depth. If anyone finds some first, please post it.

I looked on Amazon and when you go to buy it, you can buy both volumes together if it says so. You just have be be sure to look for one that says "2 VOLUME-SET" or "Both included."

Good Luck.

A meander in a river becomes so closed in that the base of the curve connects with the opposite base. The river then deposits sediment over the entrance to the former meander, and it closes off and becomes an oxbow lake.

It varies from lake to lake. It can take from months to years depending on many factors.

I think Paleo and Hannah hit the nail on the head with this. Oxbow Lakes are also a great way of automatically knowing the relative evolution of the river. If you notice, Oxbow Lakes usually only form in Mature river zones.

Woot! Learned how to read topo maps today...for the most part. Can anyone tell me what specifically about them we'll need to know...i mean, there are a LOT of symbols related to topo maps, and some of them have no relation to this event.
