I think what Frogger4907 means is that the topic has been the same for the past three years. Anatomy changes, ecology changes, almost all events have yearly changes. However, Remote hasn't moved for three years. Maybe they should bring it back to Mars for next year.

Events rotate in different time frames.

Anatomy and Ecology change every year (does Disease do as well? I forget), but things like Rocks and Minerals and Fossils rotate every three years, Dynamic Planet changes topics every two years, and Forestry/Bugs/Reptiles/Birds rotate every three years.

It's definitely not unheard of for a topic to rotate every three years, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see Mars back next year.
2009 events:
Fossils: 1st @ reg. 3rd @ states (stupid dinosaurs...) 5th @ nats.
Dynamic: 1st @ reg. 19thish @ states, 18th @ nats
Herpetology (NOT the study of herpes): NA
Enviro Chem: 39th @ states =(
Cell Bio: 9th @ reg. 18th @ nats
Remote: 6th @ states 3rd @ Nats
Ecology: 5th @ Nats

For your enjoyment, I posted my test from the 2011 Nebraska Regional at Henry Doorly Zoo.

I do agree that the remote sensing topic this year and last year was very similar. In my opinion they should focus on specific areas of remote sensing (e.g. Vegetation, Water, Planetary, etc.) with some basic overlap in central topics like they do in Ecology. However, I do not write the National rules, I just write a couple tests based on those rules.

As for the equations, I do expect students to know NDVI (or at least understand that it produces a range of values from -1 to 1 where vegetation is always positive). Other formulas I generally give in my exams.

Is there an event that switches with remote sensing every ____ years?

EDIT: nevermind....someone already asked this question :?

Wow. So on Saturday we had regionals, and this is one of those events where my partner and I felt completely AWFUL after taking the test (we got many answers by putting down lucky numbers, multiplying by numbers that might work randomly, answering based on words we just liked...). But, the catch is we actually did really well. Is this how it always feels for sit down tests? I haven't done one before, and I just want to know if we were extremely lucky and therefore are going to completely fail at States.

Do you know what is after birds? Is it forestry?
