By the way, I heard that Binghamon U was on the list as well as Buffalo.

Buffalo has some great universities that could be great hosts. University at Buffalo is a great place (note, I am biased), and has great resources to host a tournament like this. Canisius College in Buffalo also did an absolutely fantastic job hosting the regional tournament this year.

Isn't half the fun of states a road trip?

Well, more than 40% of the teams come from the Long Island/NYC area, which is a huge drive. I have a feeling it'll stay pretty close to where it was.

I'm curious as to whether this year's test was as all over the place as last year's. Perhaps it was just me, but I found it a little arbitrary and unrelated to the specs sheet. There was barely any DSO identification/galaxy-specific material.

Also, anyone from ward melville know if your science bowl team qualified for nationals? I'm getting impatient with the northeast science bowl results page -_-

It would be terrible to have it in the city. Expensive lodgings (not to mention the cost of hosting the tournament itself), lousy traffic, ridiculous drive for upstate teams... I love New York City, but it would not be a good location for a SciO competition.

aw, man... that stinks for two reasons:
1. they're not going, which is unfortunate for them
2. there is another team just as good (& possibly even better), which is unfortunate for us. we were so relieved to see your school's team wasn't there at the long island science bowl-- we suspected we wouldn't fair too well against you.

and, yeah, nyc = very large headache logistically and economically. awesome place, awful traffic. plus, who would host it?

I must tell all:
When I was lifting stuff to bring to the team room, I guess something snagged the seam on the inner leg of my jeans and ripped them open. I didn't notice until I almost dropped my sumo bot (which I can blame on the vuvuzela I was clutching with one hand) and I felt ridiculous. Now, I thought I could dope for a few hours on Friday, but the rip, which started pretty small, eventually went almost all the way up my thigh. I had to borrow gorilla tape from Phenylethylamine (thank you SO MUCH) and tape my leg up.
So if you guys saw someone with either ripped pants, or gorilla taped pants... that was me.
