Re: Sumo Bots C
Nope we tried but it didn't work out too well. We are pushing 15 kilos of cinderblock.

Re: Sumo Bots C
Wow, that seems like it defies the laws of physics, there has to be some kind of crazy adhesion going on with your wheels. How did you get second place at state? Were the cinder blocks on a tile floor? What are your wheels made of??

Re: Sumo Bots C
well we used a vex bot at states cuz we weren't done building this one. Fortunately we made nationals so all the money didn't go to waste. We are just using regular rubber tires and pushing cinderblocks on a lab bench.

Re: Sumo Bots C
I'm also redesigning our bot to have four wheels so we'll see if our pushing power gets better. You just made me a lot less confident in our design. Good luck at Nats, I don't look forward to facing you though.

Re: Sumo Bots C
Well good luck!
In the end it all comes down to who is the better driver. It doesn't matter how much you can push if you can't drive under the other bot...

Re: Sumo Bots C
as i already said it's all about driving as long as you can get over the 2 kilo limitsj wrote:Well good luck!

Re: Sumo Bots C
But at the same time, it doesn't matter how well you can drive if you get stuck on another bot =P. Are you using standard vex motors and wheels?!sj wrote:Well good luck!

Re: Sumo Bots C
Us? No we have a custom built. It took us very long to make because we only had access to a drill, dremel and a hacksaw.

I would say Vex was the most convenient way to build onesj wrote:Us? No we have a custom built. It took us very long to make because we only had access to a drill, dremel and a hacksaw.
just don't build the entire structure with vex. It's a waste,,,

Re: Sumo Bots C
Yea i suppose vex is the easiest way to build a working robot but i think that a custom built has more potential if you have time to perfect it.
This is our third custom built this year but all of them have worked very well and we seem to be improving steadily.
On a different note what types of batteries are you guys using?
