But could anyone from Harriton find out and reply (if they still remember) their time/distance on the laser shoot at states.
I was one of the 2 members in Optics for Rustin and we were wondering as to how much that played into us getting 2nd rather than 1st (if any, but im assuming so based upon  ). Our jigs didn't fit with the size of the mirror stand there, so we ended up taking around 110 seconds (total fail  ) and got 11mm off. We didn't find the test that difficult, and felt we had 0-2 wrong in all likelihood.
~Anyways GL at nationals
I'm one of the two who competed for Harriton in optics at states! As Ceram said, I remember it took 60-70 seconds for us, and we got about 24 mm off. Those are approximate numbers though. That means we got nearly the same score on the laser shoot! So unless we got the same score on the test, I guess it would have come down to that. Yeah, the mirrors were a bit weird, I agree. Definitely not 5 cm, and the frames made it difficult. It took us longer than normal too. I'm sure that happened to a whole lot of teams. We didn't find the test so difficult either, so I'm sure we were very close!

Alright :D so it was definantly close XD. Although i didn't like most of the LSS setup, i did however, like that they did not cover the mirrors with a post it note. It was a pain at one invitational this year in which I went from placing to not because the mirror moved when we removed a post-it
And the judge was nice <.<.. We split the laser slightly....and the larger part hit 11mm away.. When i saw it split I was
I never really thought to figure out what happens if it splits so I was just awkwardly standing there wondering what was going to happen
Anyways thanks and good luck at nationals.

Study.

As bam indicated, we're driving and I'm not exactly sure of how long the ride will be. I've heard a range from 15-18 hours. I think our objection with flying was safety of the building events and also things are always hectic at airports, so things and people could get lost very easily.

Also, I get headaches when I read a lot on the bus, and I know other people do too. I usually end up sleeping. I slept almost the whole way to states and back (3.5-4 hrs each way)

I'll probably end up being bored and complaining the whole way, anyway. :D What if you had to take one of these trips, but on a school bus? Ughh, i can't even imagine how terrible that would be.

Hey everyone. This may not be the best time for a post like this, but I am heading over to the Univ of Pennsylvania for college next year and I was wondering if there were opportunities to volunteer for Pennsylvania Science Olympiad there.
