For "Regulation of the Respiratory System", will we need to know the Alveolar ventilation - Arterial pCO2 Relationship and Henderson-Hasselbalch Equations?

Yes, you will definitely have to know about that.

As for next year (2011-2012) I am pretty sure one of the systems will be respiratory. I know this was answered before (but I'm too lazy to shift through past posts) so what would be a recommended book to read over the summer to study? Something less than $50.

Good question. I've mostly gotten anatomy textbooks and such from the school, but if you head over to eBay I'm sure there are a ton of books. SparkCharts are also good for muscle ID (except not for next year, I guess), but there are also videos online and such. Do a little digging on eBay and Amazon and you're bound to find something.

Does the upper respiratory tract consists of just the nasal cavity and pharynx, or the nasal cavity, pharynx, and larynx? I know the lower one consists of the trachea, bronchi, lung, alveoli, etc. I've never seen this on a test, but I'd like to be sure anyway.

The larynx can be classified as either upper or lower, depending on the source; I'd go with upper, though. It seems to be more common.
I've seen this on a few tests. Better to be safe than sorry.

I got that at state (on a test written by a pediatric cardiology surgeon), but I didn't see it at nationals last year. Might be useful, though.
