What were some of your studying techniques? In other words, can you help the next generation of competitors? Thanks!

and considering we disected worms only a few days ago... *shudder*

but state was fun....all but almost getting late for optics and having my partner's dad drive us to the building....meeting some people from scioly.org, and it was cool.

So today kjhs and I had a meeting with our new coaches. We ended up talking for ~45 minutes. Then we ransacked the science department (well, the "SO desk" - apparently after all the paper-shuffling from construction, all things SO-related ended up heaped on this one desk in the new office) and attempted to sort piles of tests, score sheets, unused certificates (heh) and ended up with a two-foot tall stack instead of the original meter or so (we chucked an entire blue recycle bin's worth of paper), then spent another half our organizing the tests by subject into file folders, then into a box that was eventually lugged into my house. Some of the papers were alllll the way back from 2000. Did you know COD used to give back regionals tests? Don't we wish they still did...

I can't believe they might nix the COD regional this year! And they got rid of Benedictine, too. I don't know what we're going to do if we can't go to COD (there are other regionals reasonably close, but on really inconvenient dates for us).

Also, has anyone here been to the Hinsdale invite in December? We're going to try to go to that one this year instead of Crystal Lake.

well, they probably aren't going to completely nix the COD regional, but the date isn't set because of the construction going on. As far as invites, they have even gotten rid of Niles west, which is surprising considering its prior successes.

Also, to prospective forestry competitors, I unearthed old forestry materials, and found that IL had actually released a shortened list for our states, with maybe 50 or 60 trees as opposed to the nearly 200 on the national list. so... there is hope :)

please oh please kjhsscioly, please post the list on this forum *begs*

oh, and...our team was considering doing an invite this year... :? BUT BUT BUT...GOOD NEWS! our former coach took one look at my pathetic efforts to try to get a coach and she decided to take pity...but she said she would do it if we could get 15 parent volunteers...so there is hope still :D

(i just go the news today and i wasnt the one to ask our ex-coach anyways :( some spotlight stealer, a newbie to the team compared to my full 2 years in middle school, asked....grrr, i hate that person

Anyway, post the Forestry stuff on the forum, please. Did you find any good info on other events? If so, post them on the forum, too.
