Yep! My state tournament (Minnesota Division C) was on March 3rd.

You think you've got it tough, ours are april 27th. That used to be a nightmare when my div. B team was making nationals

So, I'm doing this event again this year, and I was wondering: What food-borne illnesses do you guys memorize the symptoms and stuff of - if any at all? I have some basics down, like Botulism, Clostridium, E. coli, Listeriosis, Salmonela, Shigella, and Staphylococcus. I've taken multiple tests where they have matching questions on associated foods and symptoms, and also others where food-borne illness is only incorporated in the outbreak, so I was just wondering if you guys had any other food-borne illnesses that are pretty common and often appear on tests. Thanks in advance!

That list you have should be plenty. (I'd include Trichinosis, though.)
The most important ones are E. Coli and Salmonella.

I would also suggest Tuberculosis. (Spelling?)

You spelled it right (congrats!), but TB is not a foodborne disease...

Clostridium and Botulism are basically the same thing, since the pathogen is Clostridium Botulinum. I think the ones you put down are pretty sufficient. Maybe add Cholera, since I've seen that on a lot of tests.

In addition, you don't really need to memorize the symptoms. Put that on your notesheet, and memorize characteristics that make the pathogens unique (ex. Botulism is found in canned food)

Clostridium and Botulism are basically the same thing, since the pathogen is Clostridium Botulinum.

While it's true that the causative agent of botulism is Clostridium botulinum, there is also Clostridium perfringens, which is what I assumed prelude to mean.

There is also C. difficile, although that is rarer.
