yeah, but my top choice of Masters doesn't offer a PhD program in the subject. If I don't get accepted there, I will probably go through the Masters-to-PhD program at one of them.Skink wrote:As an FYI, Guava, people often times go to the same institution for their Masters and doctoral degrees because they go straight into a Ph.D program.
Where are you going for colleges?

Perfection. That’s what it’s about. It’s those moments. When you can feel the perfection of creation. The beauty of physics, you know, the wonder of mathematics. The elation of action and reaction, and that is the kind of perfection that I want to be connected to.

Yep! For me this would be the close-to-home option, and a lot (~5) of my classmates will probably be going there. I'm considering it around as much as Caltech, for entirely different reasons of course (my main difficulty will be deciding between engineering and the chance to explore a variety of non-math/sci courses).

Actually, there are lots of people I know from Chicago suburbs - bunch from the Napervilles, Hinsdales, New Trier, Deerfield.

Re: Where are you going for colleges?
So now that acceptances have started rolling in, I feel comfortable enough with my future to post in this thread
I applied to 18 schools, which I won't list here. However, I will tell you that they were mostly some of the most selective schools in the country, which made the application process and waiting game extremely stressful. I watched a lot of friends get into or get rejected from schools like MIT, Columbia, and Cornell. These were all smart, qualified people. And needless to say, I was worried.
Harvard was my first choice (insert Ivy league snobby laugh here), but I was deferred by them in November. I still have hope, but I've gotten okay with the idea of going elsewhere. I've only heard thus-far from 4 schools: University of Vermont, Stony Brook, Columbia, and University of Chicago. They're all acceptances (except for the likely letter from Columbia, but my grades haven't dropped since I got it, so same difference). I'm going to hear from the rest of the places I applied in the next two weeks. My nails will be worn to the nub.
