Science Olympiad Summer Project

Post by zyzzyva980 »

I’ve been planning a larger project for this summer that I hope will be a great benefit to everyone in Science Olympiad, especially teams working to get off the ground for the first time. To get this to work, I’m going to need some volunteers, and the more we can get to help out the better this project is going to turn out.

I don’t want to reveal terribly much about the project right now, but it will be run primarily through this website and it will involve sharing knowledge of events similar to the wiki. However, it won’t necessarily involve sharing a great depth of knowledge- there’s no need to worry about spreading secrets. More information will be revealed to the applicants that are accepted.

If you are interested (the correct answer is “Of course I am!”), then head to this link:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/133X7oS ... A/viewform
and fill out the application. It shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes.

For the moment, the application is open to everyone, but we’d prefer students who were at least freshmen in high school this year. Graduates are most certainly included (actually, we insist you fill out an application if you’re a graduate. Please.)

Applications will close on June 1, and we’ll let you know our decision around that date (maybe earlier, if you fill it out sooner). And if you need a little more incentive… we might have a little something for those that help out with this project. (No guarantees)

Right from your computer in your room. But you can travel anywhere your heart desires to take it though.

I submitted an application even though I know that I probably wouldn't be much help. >.>

This is a long application :/

What kind of commitment are we looking at here? Is this a regular commitment that we have to show up at our computers a certain time a night every week, or flexible in that we just record videos and send them off once a week and we have to make a deadline, or...?

I submitted my application, since I think this seems like an interesting project. Forestry was my best event, so I'm disappointed that it's not running next year. However, I did have three events that I felt I knew...

What would we use the video recorders for? I'd be fine making instuctional videos, as long as I don't have to show my face for safety reasons.

It's a very low time commitment; maybe less than an hour.
