Re: New York 2014
"It's nice to have a team that's not saying those nasty things." Stream went down immediately after.
On another note, congrats to FM and Columbia. Have enough fun at nationals for all of us.

That's what it was, wasn't it. >.> Wow. That's such a horrible thing to say. Really. I'm not impressed at all.FueL wrote:"It's nice to have a team that's not saying those nasty things." Stream went down immediately after.

But yes, congratulations to Fayetteville-Manlius and Columbia! Go make NY proud.
Why were there ten medals, though? Has that been protocol in Div. C?
On another note... Syo 2nd in Astronomy?

I have isolated that particular audio clip, and I am pretty confident she said, "It's nice to not have a team that's saying 'Oh rats, we're second'".

Oh, really? How did you isolate that section?Schrodingerscat wrote:I have isolated that particular audio clip, and I am pretty confident she said, "It's nice to not have a team that's saying 'Oh rats, we're second'".

Re: New York 2014
I recorded a segment of the playback in an audio editor, clipped it, did some amplification, etc. However, now I am having second thoughts that it might have been something different.caseyotis wrote:Oh, really? Re: New York 2014
That would make sense. When it was FM and WM every year, second was a disappointment. For Columbia, it is reaching a goal they have been falling just short of for five years in a row.
Edit: who was she? Is the video accessible anywhere?
Two other milestones to note besides Columbia's: Townsend Harris cracked the top ten for the first time, and the Mount Academy the top five in what I believe is only their third year.

Re: New York 2014
I heard it live, and I'm pretty sure it was something along those lines. Not sure of the exact wording, but she was making the 2nd place joke. Definitely not anything about "nasty."Schrodingerscat wrote:I have isolated that particular audio clip, and I am pretty confident she said, "It's nice to not have a team that's saying 'Oh rats, we're second'".

Re: New York 2014
Listening to it again and amplifying parts, I am now much more confident that she was saying that and not something else. It does certainly seem most plausible from external context as mentioned above.

Re: New York 2014
Why would she say that so close to a microphone?
And even so, what is she implying?
