Wetlands act as a buffer against flooding and pollutants, are an important habitat for many different species of animals and plants, and can provide recreational areas

Primary and secondary refer to different types of trees; secondary succession usually has trees like oaks, that live a long time, whereas primary succession generally contains pines

Primary ecological succession occurs in a complete barren area? (kinda forgot what the exact wording), but examples are like after a volcano eruption. Secondary succession occurs in areas that aren't completely destroyed (like forests after a wildfire)
