Nitrogen Dioxide. While it is a pollutant, it does not contribute to the greenhouse effect.

Why do the desert cactus and euphorb look and act similar, even though they live in entirely separate places of the world?

They have convergently adapted/evolved under similar environmental conditions (i.e. dry desert conditions). but are not considered homologous because they have arisen independently of each other.
note: isn't this question more of an evolutionary bio/ecology question, not very suitable for this event which is supposed to be more environmental science based?

If you consider it ecology then it's Part 1 of this event according to the rulebook.

But yeah, it's very evolutionary bio-ish which doesn't seem to be in the flavor of this event.

Yeah, I realize that isn't a great question for this event. Wasn't there a trial event about evolution?

Anyway, that was the answer I was looking for :D , your turn!

Oops, sorry about the delay! :o

next question:

Explain what the Montreal Protocol was and describe to what extent it was effective in its purpose(s)?

Bernard's answer was more or less what I was looking for, but you could always type out a response synthesized from those two great links, too :P
