I applied ED to Penn (mostly because of proximity and nice financial aid), so I guess I was lucky in that sense. I was also lucky in that I had the opportunity to do Science Olympiad with a team that was super serious about it, which I really think molded me into the student I am today...I wouldn't have had a work ethic otherwise Best of luck to next year's seniors!

I also did ED to Columbia (and thankfully got in), but probably would have chosen Columbia even if I got deferred, accepted, and accepted to other colleges. I wanted to go to Columbia because of NYC (and the free admission to certain great museums helped a lot) and because its campus is so nice and because it has a great science and astronomy program.

Definitely a hard decision! Advice for future seniors; appeal your financial aid! I appealed at Brown, and they took out all student loans for all four years and increased my grant aid over tenfold!
