Hmm. I talked to an old Ecology National Champion she said that it's probably reproductive barriers and ease of movement for the meta population because a meta population is some number of populations which are separated but still interact with each other. Your turn

Okay, here's an easy one:

Describe the difference between bioaccumulation and biomagnification and give at least one example of each?

Bioaccumulation is simply when a toxic substance accumulates in an organism. Biomagnification is when a toxic substance's density is multiplied by trophic levels.

An eagle is around 5 trophic levels above a phytoplankton. A small density of DDT is in the water, some of which is picked up by the plankton. An ecosystem can support less consumers than producers, so in the trophic level above the phytoplankton, the DDT is much more potent. When it reaches the eagles, it is so potent they basically just die.

Ok no one has posed in a while. Let's try to keep up the rate of questioning because Nats is pretty close now.

Question: Define external cost, marginal cost, and internal cost.

Internal costs are costs that companies will include in their financial plans: costs like wages, or materials that are factored into operating costs, etc. External costs are costs typically not included by companies: taxes from pollution, costs of dumping wastes, etc. Marginal costs are... the difference to make a profit?

Explain environmental stewardship and relate it to aquatic ecosystems/resources with an example?

I honestly have no clue but...Environmental Stewardship is the responsible use of the environment and the protection of the environment thru conservation and sustainability. An example would be putting limits on how much fisheries could fish and what types of fish they can harvest. Also implementing laws that outlaw unsustainable fishing methods.
