Cell Biology C

Post by watermydoing14 »

Another year of cell bio! Nice!

What is the difference between light microscopy and electron microscopy, and what are some uses for each?

The light microscope send light through the specimen while the electron microscope sends electrons through the specimen. Light microscopes are generally weaker, but can be used to look at living things. Electron microscopes kill the specimen.
Sorry I can't figure out how to hide it.

I'll get this going again!

How do lithotrophic organisms get energy for cellular processes?

This explains how question marathons work: http://www.scioly.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=217&t=8011
Programmed cell death is known as apoptosis. It is a highly regulated process that can be beneficial in multicellular organisms, for example, in the separation of fingers. When there is an insufficient amount of apoptosis in the cells, it can lead to unregulated cell proliferation, or cancer.

It's because glycine is the simplest possible amino acid, having just an atom of hydrogen as its side chain?
