C'mon Neil, I was waiting for someone else to take charge. You can add more than that! Or...have they not updated the website more than this? .-.

C: Microbe Mission, DyPlan (Fresh Waters), Fermi Questions, GeoMaps, Grav Vehicle, Scrambler, Rocks, Astro

There's a bit more up there but not too much, but I suppose I'll add it anyway

I wonder if the event list is in alphabetical order. If it is we may be able to guess the trials?

Between Chem Lab and Disease Detectives there are
  • Circuit Lab
    Code Busters (Promising pilot)
    Code Analysis (Promising pilot)
    Compound Machine
    Designer Genes
Circuit Lab and Designer Genes are scheduled to be back in 2019, so they are likely candidates.

What can be between Helicopter and Herpetology though?

I'm okay with this. I noticed #5 on this policy - http://www.newyorkscioly.org/wp-content ... -09-09.pdf - and it reminded me of mystery design last year. My experience with NYSSO has been that information is difficult to find on the website, so trial events aren't really fair for everyone, especially if coaches aren't able to seek clarifications directly etc.

Speaking of trial events, any speculation as to what they are? Last year they were posted at the end of September I believe.

Edit: didn't see the post above but the alphabetical order idea is interesting. Sorta weird that they would know ahead of time, but not spell it out - but it wouldn't surprise me.

Huh, that's a pleasant surprise. Regionals too, not just States.

It always seemed weird to me that our trial events counted towards the score when even Nationals doesn't count them. That takes some burden off of the competitors. Especially when some of the trial events are building events, and require a lot of work.
2009 events:
Fossils: 1st @ reg. 3rd @ states (stupid dinosaurs...) 5th @ nats.
Dynamic: 1st @ reg. 19thish @ states, 18th @ nats
Herpetology (NOT the study of herpes): NA
Enviro Chem: 39th @ states =(
Cell Bio: 9th @ reg. 18th @ nats
Remote: 6th @ states 3rd @ Nats
Ecology: 5th @ Nats

I'm just worried that people might not put the effort into trial events anymore :?: even though trial events give competitiors a good preview of what may come next year
