Are scores of 396 / 395 / 394 / 393 normal at Nationals... That closeness seems insane to me

It's certainly uncommonly close. I don't recall seeing three 1-point gaps before.

He retired recently enough that you might be able to get contact info from someone at his former school.

Awards was a roller coaster from start to finish. The score predictor spreadsheets had us between 6th and 15th at various times. Many events we hoped to medal in...we didn't. In the end though, consistency did pay off.
We thought we placed 11th again like last year. You can tell by our coach's reaction on stage lmfao.

I am incredibly impressed by Mason's national showing. They probably are the best performing first-time nationals team ever. It looks like Ohio may have four powerhouse teams in the years to come, if Mason can keep the momentum from a strong nationals showing.

Congrats to the winners of C, Troy!

Actually, Troy won the first time they went to nats, but otherwise this may be true, and it certainly is when applying to 2000 and beyond.
Two years ago I knew stuff about rocks, minerals, experiments, and ecosystems, yay!
Last year I knew stuff about amphibians, reptiles, freshwater, and more experiments, yay again!
Now I know stuff about oceanography, saltwater, birds, and fossils, yay for the third time!
