I believe it would, but feel free to submit a rules clarification on soinc.orgAAH2020 wrote:No, what I mean was, if we used old wind chimes as materials for a glockenspiel, would that be considered using parts from a professional instrument?

Re: Sounds of Music C
How are you guys preparing for the written test. Because most of the topics arnt covered in depth in a high school class, but the college books that i have found are probably more difficult than the actual test.

Re: Sounds of Music C
They're not likely to answer this as an FAQ because it is asking about a specific case rather than a general interpretation. In my opinion, wind chimes pretty clearly fall into the category of "toy or professional instruments," especially since bells are explicitly called out as not permitted.UTF-8 U+6211 U+662F wrote:I believe it would, but feel free to submit a rules clarification on soinc.orgAAH2020 wrote:No, what I mean was, if we used old wind chimes as materials for a glockenspiel, would that be considered using parts from a professional instrument?

Re: Sounds of Music C
Does the box that our instrument is in during the competition have to be a 60 cm x 60 cm x 100 cm box? Or is any size box allowed?

Also, are there any mobile applications/software that can be used for the pitch test?

Per rule 3.d, the device must "fit within a 60x60x100cm box when brought into the competition area", which I'm pretty sure is just saying that the device can be no bigger than these dimensions, which they can/will check by using that large of a box as a measuring device.sciencerules1234 wrote:Also, are there any mobile applications/software that can be used for the pitch test?
There's plenty of free/cheap tuner apps on the app store that you can use for testing! I do think at some point in the future there might be links published to the actual apps the judges are going to use, but I'm not 100% on that.

The recently updated Event Logistics Manual includes several specific app recommendations.sciencerules1234 wrote:Also, are there any mobile applications/software that can be used for the pitch test?
