Also, does anyone know how to put an image into this? Sorry, I'm new to this.GurtYo wrote:
What did this fossil attach to when living?
When did it undergo a selective mass extinction?
Where does the name come from?

All correct, but the last one is substrates on the ocean floor. It could also be driftwood.sciolyrules107 wrote:pb5754[] wrote:GurtYo wrote:

I assume you mean the first one, not the last one?GurtYo wrote:All correct, but the last one is substrates on the ocean floor. Specimen A:
Specimen B:
Specimen C:
1. Identify Specimen A, B, C
2. Specimen B is a state fossil. Which state?
3. What is the method of reproduction for specimen B
4. Similarities between specimens A and C
5. Define Cross-Cutting Relationships
6. List three conditions for fossilization environments

Re: Fossils B/C
1A.Batoidea (Ray teeth) 1B. Lepidodendron 1C. Carchardon Teeth
2. I don't think specimen B is a state fossil. However specimen C is the state fossil of Georgia.
3. By the use of spores.
4. Both specimens were used to mechanically digest food by their respective users. They both belong in the class Chondrichthyes.
5. The layer of rock that cuts another is younger than the rock being cut (sorry for the weird wording).
6. They must be buried relatively quickly, kept away from decay such as oxygen or another animal, and has to have a source of leached mineral water so it can be replaced.
I don't know who's supposed to go now, but here's a few questions:
1. Name at least three taphonomy biases in the fossil record.
2. What is a holotype? Which fossil's holotype was found at Solnhofen, Germany?
3. Identify the animal below. What was speical about this animal's jaw?
